Communication is critical! Not only in personal relationships, but especially in business relationships. Communication at its most basic level means meeting people and going through the small talk. Once that's over, the fun begins...

    The Business of People

After you've met someone new, whether it be a client or future friend, you can move past the shallow small talk and into a more meaningful dialogue. Once the pleasantries are exchanged, time is spent talking and more importantly, listening to the other person. By listening you find out about their needs and desires. You find out about their family and their friends.

Visits become more rewarding as the relationship grows. The more you allow someone to talk about themselves, the more you may learn from them. How much business have you received simply because you listened to someone's complaint about service or spoke about needs which weren't being met. How many times did you know you had the answer for them and only had to stay around long enough to help them realize it.

In business and in life, we have to take chances. We have to be willing to give in order to receive. We must continue to go about helping others and being of service to them. It is certain that we will discover great abundance in return.

Go about the business of living. Do your errands. Go to school and church meetings. Meet new people and spread happiness. Relationships are important. Few people can exist without friends, family and a close support system. Your contacts and your network can never be too large!

    What they say about YM&H

    A Fantastic Discovery
My computer mouse cord was too short. How many nights did my arm ache as I sat at my computer terminal with my right arm up one level using the mouse because the cord wasn't quite long enough to reach the keyboard table height. My neck was aching, my shoulder was aching and something had to give.

Perhaps I don't visit the computer stores enough. After all, my computer is working fine (now) and it's still the same system I set up one year ago. How was I to know there was a miracle out there? Yes, a miracle...

Tonight I'm using my new Microsoft wireless mouse. No more arm ache. No more wires getting caught on the monitor stand. No more mouse pad and no more sticking! What a great concept - wireless.

If you need a new mouse and haven't checked out the new ones yet, please do yourself a favor. I feel like that puppet on the laptop commercial. NO MORE STRINGS pulling on me.

    Quick Quotations
The price of greatness is responsibility. --Sir Winston Churchill

There are three kinds of death in this world. There's heart death, there's brain death, and there's being off the network. --Guy Almes

You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity. -- Barbara De Angelis

    How Thoughts Change Your Life
Did you know that the one dominant characteristic that truly successful people have in common is a Positive Attitude?

Did you also know that according to a recent research study at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. people with a positive attitude live 19 % longer?

Positive messages affect your thoughts, and your thoughts drive your behavior - and ultimately your life. It is almost certain a positive attitude improves your ability to fight some diseases. Have you noticed how anyone with a good sense of humor is able to laugh and make it through any difficulty in life?

Try it for a week and see what happens. A friend of mine always said: " You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be sad. And it's always smarter, better and more fun to be... HAPPY!"

    Young Daughters & Nieces
If you have daughters 7-12 years old or any nieces of the same age, you must run out and buy a book called TIME WILL TELL.

Many years ago I met Suzanne Bush and Deb Takes. They are tremendously successful women in both their careers and their personal lives. As we all seem to change and evolve, they have co-authored a book about time travel and about the trials and tribulations of the adolescent years .

Suzanne spoke at a recent Chamber luncheon. She and Deb were kind enough to autograph the book and write a personal message inside for my own 12 year old daughter. She was absolutely thrilled when it arrived. I wish both Suzanne and Deb the best of success with their labor of love.

The book addresses some common concerns for our young women. It deals with bullies, low self-esteem and eating disorders, among others. Check out Deb and Suzanne's website below. You can order the book there or it's also available on www.Amazon.com.
